Trimlight App Guide for Beginners

Just got your Trimlight system installed? Congratulations! Now comes the fun part — learning the app. The Trimlight Edge app is intuitive once you know the basics, but there's a lot you can do with it. This guide covers everything you need to get started.

Downloading the App

The Trimlight Edge app is available for both iOS and Android. Search "Trimlight Edge" in the App Store or Google Play. It also works on most Mac computers but not on PCs.

Connecting to Your System

Your installer will connect your system to your home Wi-Fi during installation. If you need to reconnect or change networks:

1. 1Open the Trimlight Edge app
2. 2Tap the menu icon in the top left
3. 3Select 'Devices' then tap your controller
4. 4Follow the on-screen Wi-Fi setup instructions
5. 5Make sure you're on 2.4GHz Wi-Fi (not 5GHz)

Creating Your First Pattern

The app comes loaded with hundreds of pre-built holiday patterns. To create a custom pattern:

• Tap 'Patterns' in the bottom navigation
• Tap the '+' button to create new
• Choose your colors from the color wheel
• Select an animation style (static, chase, fade, etc.)
• Set the speed and brightness
• Save and name your pattern

Setting Up Schedules

Schedules let your lights turn on and off automatically — great for security lighting or holiday displays. Tap the clock icon in the app to set daily, weekly, or date-specific schedules. You can even set your lights to turn on at sunset automatically.

Alexa & Google Home

To connect to Alexa or Google Home, download the Trimlight skill from the respective app store and follow the pairing instructions. Once connected, you can say "Alexa, turn on my Trimlight" or "Hey Google, set my lights to red."
